Bargain-filled Montmartre
Montmartre in Paris' 18th arrondissement has many meanings for visitors and Parisians alike. There's the flashy and naughty area around Le Moulin Rouge and Pigalle, the magnificent Basilica Sacré Couer, the Cimitiére de Montmartre where you can pay homage to 18th century composer Hector Berlioz and 20th century actor Francois Truffaut among others.
But this also is a district of small residential streets, sidewalk cafés and surprising features such as the Moulin de la Galette, the last working windmill. And it has some of the city's most reasonably priced apartments, including the one pictured above that is midway between the sacred and profane. For as little as 100 euros nightly it offers a separate bedroom, living room with sofa bed and full kitchen arranged in 40 square meters.
Here's a link to a selection of Paris apartments:

And here's a shot of Sacré Couer, taken from the towers of Notre Dame. The apartment is to the left of and below the basilica.
