Moving over to the 7th

Our friends arrived (a little late due to a delayed flight) on Monday and we moved a large apartment in the upscale 7th arrondissement. The photo is outside our door and that's the dome of Les Invalides lighted for the evening. We can see the Eiffel Tower from our sixth (top) floor apartment, and the view makes a delightful finish to the days.

This is a new apartment for the owner and while it's spacious and well-equipped, it's still a work in progress. I hope to gently communicate some needs - such as curtains on the bedroom windows - that guests will expect. If the rough edges are smoothed this is a great bargain for a family or up to four couples traveling together.

Dinner last night was at Le Buisson Ardent in the 5th, a restaurant we had eaten at two years ago. The menu has changed somewhat, I suspect because they've adapted to the slower economy, but the food and preparation remain well worth the visit. And at 31 euros for a three-course meal it's a relative bargain. (Don't forget, that includes tax and service.)

We're headed out this morning to Montmartre, after enjoying a quick coffee and pastry at the place below, which is at the end of our block. This artisan boulanger makes amazing breads and sweets.

Tomorrow we leave Paris for our friends' chambre d'hote in Burgundy, just in time for the grape harvest. It should be fun and interesting.
